Miocene
Date : March 13th 2002
Venue : Newport TJ's
Support :
Trip / Throat / The
Kennedy Soundtrack
Trip started the evening off with their fusion of metal/d&b which drew
the crows in and they definately did put on a great show for all their local
fans that went to see them, as their gigs are kinda a rare thing, so you have
to catch them when you can...songs like 'Virtual Zero' were well received. These
guys are at the beginning of a greater journey.....
Throat threw out rock from their new rocktastic album 'Knievel is evil'. They
kept the high energy created by Trip alive and didnt disappoint the crowd that
had basically gone to see fellow Welshmen (like Trip), The Kennedy Soundtrack.
South Wales very own Kennedy Soundtrack, had to live up to the expectations
created by the buzz of the release of their debut 'Wrong day' EP. They welcomed
this challenge, lead vocalist Nic Havard showed his authority indefinately,
Elloit churning out those wicked bass lines, Dave with his kinda boyband charmastic
voice on choruses like 'Yourself' and 'Bring me down'. Their new track, yet
to be heard by their local fans 'Tale of two cities' went down perfect, they
put on their best local show to date. Their next single 'Killing Music' is out
in May.
Then mighty Miocene took the stage, and wow did they rock! They proved why metal sucks 2002, because Miocene are here for the taking, no Linkin Park crap, these guys are uncompareable! To look at they were visually tiring, especailly lead vocalist Ben who must have been on some newly revised version of duracel batteries. Fueled with so much energy, they gave 110 %. Finishing with 'Free reign' they showed the Miocene 'State of Flux'. These guys are to be seen to be heard!
